Viral STDs Viral STDs are caused by viruses passed from person-to-person and depending on the STD,can be transmitted during sexual activity,during non-sexual contact with additional individual,from mother to infant during pregnancy,birth,or breastfeeding,blood transfusions or sharing IV drug equipment and in some cases, from towels,straws,or other objects that come in contact with an infected individual.Viral STDs include Cytomegalovirus,Genital Warts / Human Papillomavirus (HPV),Hepatitis(A, B, & C),Herpes(HSV1 & HSV2),HIV (AIDS), Molluscum Contagiosum, Mononucleosis (‘Mono’)etc..
Bacterial STIs are caused by bacteria drived from person-to-person during sexual activity. STDs caused by bacteria include,Chlamydia (Chlamydia trachomatis) Gonorrhea (Neisseria gonorrhea) Granuloma inguinale (Calymmatobacterium granulomatis),chanchroid etc..
This infection can be passed through sexual contact in rare circumstances.
Yeast Infection (Candida): A vaginal yeast infection is a form of fungal infection caused by overgrowth of Candida,naturally occurring yeast.Yeast is normally found in a woman’s vagina in limited numbers,but sometimes they can multiply and change the normal balance of bacterial growth.When the fungi initiates to grow in excess,they may develop into candidiasis.
These STIs are caused by parasites drived from person-to-person during sexual activity,these include,Trichomoniasis this is an single-celled organism which infect the urethra, bladder, vagina, cervix or get under the foreskin. It can be transmitted through sexual activity and by sharing sex toys.The other protozoan STDs are caused by Pubic lice and scabies.
